Bio: AVÉ

Presented by VPM, AVÉ—composed of siblings Alexia, Victoria, and Emmanuel Velazquez—represents the sophisticated evolution of the Jersey-based gospel singing group, The Velazquez Family Singers (VFS). Their story is one of profound musical lineage and technical mastery, marking a seamless transition from gospel to house and dance.

By blending rigorous classical foundations with contemporary house and electronic music, AVÉ established a unique identity that honored their gospel roots while captivating a modern audience. This artistic DNA was shaped under the tutelage of their father, Victor Velazquez, a classically trained tenor and distinguished member of the historic Opera Ebony. Under his guidance, the siblings developed the intricate harmonies and operatic discipline that became their sonic signature—a prowess that first secured them back-to-back victories at the McDonald’s Gospelfest (2006, 2007) and two Stellar Award nominations for their debut gospel project, Family & Friends.

As the group transitioned into the AVÉ era, they expanded into international electronic markets. A defining milestone of this period was their collaboration with the legendary Sarah Dash of Labelle. In a symbolic "passing of the torch," AVÉ joined forces with Dash to record a high-energy remake of the 1975 Labelle classic, "What Can I Do For You?" Produced by DJ Jorge Lagrava and Tweaka Turner, the project successfully reintroduced the anthem to a new generation.

AVÉ further showcased their versatility with a soulful reimagining of Marvin Gaye’s "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)." The remake highlighted the group’s ability to maintain the emotional gravity of a masterpiece while infusing it with their signature, sophisticated vocal arrangements.

Today, the AVÉ archives stand as a testament to a group that refused to be confined by genre. From their lead vocals on the international hit "Stand on the Word" by KEEDZ to their chart-topping collaborations with music royalty, the Velazquez siblings remain a flagship example of VPM’s commitment to artists who embody both technical excellence and cultural impact.
