Bio: ALEXIA is a singer, songwriter, and actor whose work blends traditional, classical, and contemporary art forms through deeply expressive musical storytelling. Rooted in gospel and shaped by the emotional honesty of soul, r&b, and rock, her music illuminates the nuances of everyday life, love, and the human experience.

Drawing inspiration from the timeless voices of Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Sade, Jill Scott, Alanis Morissette, and Janet Jackson, ALEXIA channels a sound that feels romantic, soulful, and intimate—reimagined through a modern, alternative lens. Her artistry carries a distinctly Newark, New York brownstone sensibility: warm, grounded, and homey, with a subtle edge that reflects both heritage and lived experience. Influenced by contemporary artists such as Kehlani, Victoria Monet, ChloexHalle, and Willow, her music bridges classic soul traditions with present-day vulnerability and texture.

Previously, ALEXIA served as the lead vocalist of the genre-blending band Chrysalis, where she helped craft a forward-thinking sound that earned critical recognition, including praise from AFROPUNK.com, which described the group as “redefining contemporary music as we know it.”

Beyond music, ALEXIA’s career spans theater, media, and arts leadership. She has collaborated with MAC Cosmetics, Playbill, PBS, BET, and UMG France, and has appeared in Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, including Alicia Keys’ hit musical Hell’s Kitchen. She is also the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Women of Color on Broadway Inc., where she develops musical theater and media programs that provide training, access, and professional pathways for emerging women and artists of color.
